The other day a friend emailed me asking how to earn money online. It’s a pretty broad question and I had to stop myself from giving a broad reply. Cos I remembered how much I hate those kinda answers! Like; “how long is a piece of string”.
Starting out online can be tough and there are literally thousands of methods of making money online. I would argue that list building is the best and a lot of the top earners online would agree!
List building literally means growing a list of email addresses and sending out a newsletter to them. You want your list to be targeted, so the email addresses you are collecting should be from people who are interested in the content you provide and the products you are selling. Make no mistake; the bigger the email list does not necessarily mean the better.
You should build a list that’s targeted and specific to your niche. If you put together a list of email addresses that are not interested in the niche you are in they are highly unlikely to buy the products you are promoting. If you’re in the dog training niche and you promote a product to do with cooking to your followers, you’re unlikely to make a lot of sales. If list size was directly proportional to the amount of money you earn; spammers would be the top earners online.
So what do you need to do to build a targeted list and earn money online? You must put together content specific to your niche and so gain the interest of your intended market.
